with Kevin Sutton,Montverde Academy Men's Basketball Head Coach,NIKE Skill Academy Instructor
In 22 years, Coach Sutton has built three successful high school programs. Program building must include vision, plan of action, resources and support, infrastructure and foundation. All members of the team live by a mission statement that sets the standard and expectations of all team members. The vision statement requires you to define who you are and what success is to you. Determining what kind of coach you are forces you to decide on a style of play. Goals and objective are also a part of Sutton's vision statement. The plan of action allows you to achieve the goals and objectives that you establish. Bringing the community together is a major part of the plan of action for building a successful program. A positive relationship with faculty and administration is needed to bring all parties together on a common path. Laying a foundation is the difference between good teams and good programs. Roots of foundation are collective excellence, team accountability, academic commitment, respect for the program and unselfishness. Conceive it, believe it and achieve is Coach Sutton's message.
