Basketball Offensive Drills - Quaker

Description:

Helps players move without the ball and catching and shooting. It's a basic pass and catch drill. Passes should be crisp just like a game pass. Shooting around the perimeter or as post shots depending on the player's abilities.

Instructions:

One player with ball under basket. Shooter at the top of the key with his back turned to the passer. Player under the basket calls ball and turns around ready to catch and shoot. Passer rebounds. The shooter sprints and touches the sideline, and then sprints back to a shooting spot awaiting the pass. Shoot five sets of ten shots.

Number of Players:

Pair up players by two's

Tips:

Make sure passes are chest or bounce passes your players would use in a game. Shoot game shots not shots that are out of the players range. Use this to help check shooting form and moving without the ball.

Variations:

This can also be done as a post player drill. The shooter can go from post to post and about eight feet and in after touching the sideline. Advanced shooters can set a defense up so that they can learn to recognize open spots on the floor after they sprint back from the sideline.

Skills:

Shooting
