Teach Point to be the General
April 08, 2011 09:36PM
I have a very talented point guard skill wise. She is a hard worker, first in and out of the gym, and is a great leader by example. Respected by both players and coaches. However, she struggles to be that vocal leader or what I call the General of the Team or the "Coach on the Court." She is shy to vocally call plays, tentative to get in a team mates face or just be directive on either ends of the floor. Any ideas on how a coach can increase a point guard's confidence to be a vocal leader? Any practice ideas? Anyone else been in this situation and had success in developing a point guard in this way?
