Basketball Post Drills - NBA- No Babies Allowed

Description:

I enjoy doing this drill with my post players. It is great for building toughness, both mentally and physically. However, this drill can get rough if you do not maintain control.

Objective: Rebounding and scoring with contact

Instructions:

The drill begins with all three players in the paint. Coach or manager has the ball on the perimeter. Once the coach shoots, it is a free-for-all. The players must battle each other to get the ball and score. I do allow fouls as long as they are not "flagrant or malicious". The players must go for the ball on a make or miss by the coach. When a player scores the ball goes back to Coach to shoot again. If you are working with only posts I do not allow them to shoot outside of 10ft. If a player is stuck they may pass to the coach rather than shooting a bad shot. Once a player gets 3pts he will rotate out and the next player takes his spot. The other 2 players maintain any points they have. We usually do this for about 10 minutes.

Number of Players:

3 at a time

Tips:

If you have players that are tempermental, take away points for any flagrant fouls. Keep a close eye on this drill.

Variations:
