Basketball Shooting Drills - Quick Pivot Jumpers

Description:

Drill works on strong pivoting, squaring up to basket and a quick release, along with pump fakes and shots off the dribble.

Instructions:

Have player face coach who is standing 10 feet from top of key with a ball.

1) Player stands at foul line. Coach with ball yells out Left or Right depending on what foot the player is to pivot off of. The player catches, pivots off the called for foot and shoots. If he misses, he gathers his own rebound, uses the glass and finishes. The ball is then passed back out to coach while player sprints to foul line and repeats drill. After six shots total, player moves to top of key.

2) From top of key, coach again calls out a pivot foot, however on catch after player pivots, he pump fakes, rips the ball through and explodes low to the foul line elbow and takes a jump shot. If a miss gathers rebound and puts back in off glass. This continues for six shots.

Number of Players:

One player and one coach, with one basketball

Tips:
