Basketball Shooting Drills - Triples

Description:

This drill practices free throw shooting under pressure as the player would be in a real game.

Instructions:

Everyone lines along the baseline. The coach then chooses one player to come to the free throw line. That player steps up to the free throw line and announces three "Friends". The friends then step aside and the player takes one free throw. If the free throw goes in then the people on the baseline all do one suicide run (baseline to near free throw line and back, half court and back, far free throw line and back, then far baseline and back) whilst the shooter and his/her friends watch. If the free throw is missed the the shooter and his/her friends do the suicide runs whilst everyone else watches.

Number of Players:

None

Tips:

Do not accept any failure or arguments. The team can get pretty annoyed at all the running.

Variations:

To make it harder put a time limit on the suicide runs and if the limit is not made the people do it again and again until the time limit is made. As you can imagine it gets harder as they get tireder and have to force the run.
