Coach Walters,
We've never beaten a team in our league - they use 1-3-1 and we always try 2-1-2, so far unsuccessfully, I''d love a fresh approach, and I'm interested in your 1-4 idea. Would you please share? davewesterman@sbcglobal.net
Thanks

Glad to help.

hi, I'm looking for a quick offense to go against a 1-3-1 trap. primarily they rely on their middle man to steal the pass to the wing. I have an hour with my kids to get a game plan together. Since the team we are playing are all bigger kids, I don't expect to win. I just want something to fight with and have my kids leave the game with some dignity.

Hello Coach Walters, would you mind sending me information on how to attack the 1-3-1 zone? I read that you like to run a 1-4 set against it but I was hoping you have a diagram or outline of how to attack it and if it's something that can be taught to a 7th and 8th grade team?. My email is leongorham@ymail.com. thank you

Yes this can be taught to JH players ... I will send diagrams ... the key is that the PG must be able to attack straight at the point of the zone if you use the 1-4 High.

Hi Coach Walters,

Seems like more 5-6th grade teams are using zone traps (an unfortunate trend). I have a VERY short 6th grade boys teams with good ballhandlers. We've had minimal success using a 2-1-2 set against aggressive 1-3-1 half court traps that pick up at half-court. Would to see your 1-4 zone offense suggestions/diagram. Please send to lane89@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Coach Walters ... can you send me your diagrams vs. 1-3-1 zone ... I believe you suggest using a 1-4 high set to go against this Defense?

jhose@tuslawschools.org

THank you ... also, would this work vs. a 1-2-2 half court trap?

Coach
I run a 2-1-2 Swing offense running 1 wing corner to corner while the other screens warrior and spots to short corner with post player at elbow for overload look. Works pretty good but second time around teams are adjusting. Would love to see 1-4 offense if you could. Thanks ou81clu@zoominternet.net
